FOBANA SCHOLARSHIP 2023-2024

INVITATION TO APPLICANTS

FOBANA will be awarding deserving candidates with a one-time scholarship of $1,000.00 which the recipients can use to finance certain needs as they prepare for College.

The criteria that applicants must fulfill are as follows:

The FOBANA’s policy is to hold an essay competition in the Host City where the convention is being held in that year. For FOBANA 2024, the applicant (a) must be residing in the state of Varginia, and (b) was born in the U.S. of Bangladeshi ancestry or a Bangladeshi-born with legal status here.
2023 graduate from High school with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 –4.0.
Must demonstrate community involvement such as but not limited to community involvement pertaining to the Bangladeshi American community (ex. volunteering for a Bangladeshi organization/association in any capacity), attending Bangla school, taking courses, or writing a paper on Bangladesh in high
Complete the Application Form and attach all the necessary items as requested in the application form
Write 500 words essay on the subject matter that is stated in the application form.

In addition to the completed form, please include the following details so that proper assessment can be made to select the right candidate for the awards:

A 500-word typed essay about yourself in which you will highlight your experience or contribution to the Bangladeshi American community by volunteering for a Bangladeshi organization/association in any capacity), attending Bangla school, taking courses, or writing a paper on Bangladesh in high school, your accomplishments and goals relating to your heritage where you stand in pursuit of your educational goals. If this requirement is lacking, the applicant can provide 20 hours of voluntary work for FOBANA 2022 Host Committee before August 15, 2024, as a substitute to fulfill this criterion (please note: number of maximum words must be adhered to).
An official copy of your transcript, showing GPA and class rank Letters/certificates from Community organizations you are/were involved with
A color photo of yourself (.jpeg, .png with at least 1MB size)
